Despite Sunday’s triumph, SpaceX has faced numerous challenges on the road to reusable rockets. Previous test flights saw the Super Heavy booster explode or land in the ocean, and the company has been met with regulatory hurdles. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) delayed Starship’s fifth launch due to minor changes, and SpaceX had to meet additional environmental requirements before receiving approval. After months of waiting, the FAA finally gave the green light on Saturday, and SpaceX launched the very next day.
