What’s New for Gemini

At Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, new features were announced to enhance Gemini’s capabilities, making it a more personalized and accessible assistant on Android devices.

Use Images, Videos, and Files with Gemini Live

Gemini Live now supports images, files, and YouTube videos, allowing for more natural and free-flowing conversations. This update makes it easier to brainstorm ideas, organize thoughts, and simplify complex topics.

The new functionality is rolling out today for the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S25 series, as well as Pixel 9 devices, with more Android devices to follow in the coming weeks. Additionally, Project Astra capabilities, including screen sharing and live video streaming, will soon be integrated into the Gemini mobile app.

Enhanced App Extensions

Gemini now supports actions across Samsung apps, including Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock on Galaxy S25 devices. Users can also combine multiple extensions in a single request. For example, they can ask for high-protein lunch ideas and save the recipes directly to Samsung Notes or Google Keep.

Expanded Access to Gemini

On Galaxy S25 devices, Gemini can now be accessed with a simple long press on the side button, providing instant assistance. Additionally, Advanced users will soon have access to Deep Research in the Gemini mobile app, enabling quick and efficient research on the go.

Looking Ahead

Samsung and Google are committed to making Gemini a more powerful and intuitive mobile assistant. These latest updates will continue to improve Gemini’s integration with Android devices, offering users a seamless AI-powered experience.
